SUMMARY
Responsible for the development of employment & education opportunities and placement of clients.
Highly motivated professional with 2 years of experience in employment and education development, specializing in assisting individuals facing barriers to employment and supporting their educational pursuits. Skilled in conducting intake assessments, developing employment and education goals, providing job and education preparation, and fostering job placements and educational opportunities. Proven track record of successfully supporting clients in achieving their employment and educational objectives. Possesses exceptional communication and outreach abilities to engage employers, educational institutions, and build lasting partnerships. Demonstrated knowledge of EEO requirements and accessibility standards. Committed to making a positive impact on the lives of individuals with mental disabilities, transitional age youth, and those experiencing homelessness.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Responsibilities:
• Conduct an initial intake and employment assessment with each new client.
• Develop employment goals with the member based on the member’s skills, interests, income requirements, city of residence and other relevant factors.
• Provide employment preparation to members, both individually and in groups, on
the topics of:
o Interviewing Techniques
o Resume Development
o Application Preparation
o Appropriate Work Behaviors
o Grooming and Hygiene
• Provide job development services to members. This includes direct contact with
employers to develop job leads. Maintain ongoing file of employer contacts and
activities.
• Provide job placement services to a member that includes short-term follow-up
services up to 90 days after employment.
• Experience in job development and working with persons with mental disabilities, transitional age youth, and/or working in homeless services.
• Assist employers and members with barriers to job retention.
• Provide a weekly Job Club for clients receiving services.
• Prepare required reports for submission to funding agencies.
Qualifications:
• Experience in job development and working with persons with mental disabilities, transitional age youth, and/or working in homeless services.
• Familiarity with employment related issues facing people with mental disabilities, transitional age youth, and/or working in homeless services.
• Demonstrated ability to do client and employer outreach.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively (oral/written).
• Must be able to travel as required.
• Demonstrated ability in basic computer literacy.
• Demonstrated experience in all facets of employment including resume
preparation, interviewing, business expectations, and major job categories.
• Knowledge of EEO requirements and accessibility standards for people with
disabilities in the workplace required.
• Experience in Domestic violence/ Sexual assault preferred.
• Demonstrated interpersonal skills needed to interact effectively with a variety of
staff, volunteers and members of the community.
Preferred Qualifications:
• 2 years’ experience in job development and/or education and working with persons with mental disabilities, transitional age youth, and/or working in homeless services.
